Introudction of Hydraulic Jar
The hydraulic jar is the Halliburton Big John Jar, which is used as
a safety tool in the well downhole testing operation. The Hydraulic Jar is used to provide an upward shock to helps free
a stuck tool by resisting a pull on the workstring.
When a packer is stuck, you can use bumper to unfreeze the tool and
carry on shocking pipe string. When using this bumper, you should
exert a pulling power to the pipe string first, and then releasing
the pulling power on the bumper so that the drill stem contracts
after the drill stem is stretched.
At the end of the stroke, the restriction is removed causing the
mandrel to move rapidly upward, resulting in a sudden impact to
help free the stuck tools. If the tools are not free, a downward
stroke resets the Hydraulic Jar for the next attempt.
