Night Vision Infrared Lens 850nm NIR Camera Optics High
Transmission 25.4mm This night vision infrared lens is optimized for 850nm
near-infrared illumination, the wavelength used by the majority of
IR LED illuminators in security and surveillance cameras. The
25.4mm lens is manufactured from optical glass with an NIR
anti-reflective coating that keeps transmission above 98 percent at
850nm, ensuring that the camera captures the maximum return from
its IR illuminator in complete darkness. For night vision camera systems, the infrared lens is the component
that determines how far the camera can see when visible light is
gone. The optical design corrects for chromatic aberration across
the visible to near-infrared range, so the lens holds focus between
daytime color imaging and nighttime IR imaging without adjustment. Each night vision infrared lens is polished to a 40-20 scratch-dig
surface quality and verified for NIR transmission with a
spectrophotometer. Custom focal lengths from 4mm wide angle to 50mm
telephoto, fixed or varifocal versions, and board-level or C-mount
formats are available for IP cameras, analog cameras, and low light
imaging modules. Technical Specifications
Key Advantages
Night vision performance is a system calculation: illuminator
power, sensor sensitivity, and lens transmission all contribute to
how far the camera can see. This night vision infrared lens is
specified with measured 850nm data so system designers can
calculate detection range with confidence instead of relying on
estimates. Field experience across residential, commercial, and industrial
surveillance programs shows that cameras fitted with high
transmission NIR lenses require less illuminator power for the same
range, which reduces power consumption and light pollution. The
lens is also suitable for AI camera applications that use NIR
illumination for facial recognition and license plate capture in
darkness. Product Q&A Q: Why is 850nm the standard wavelength for night vision cameras? 850nm sits in the near-infrared where silicon sensors remain
sensitive and IR LED illuminators are efficient and inexpensive. It
is bright enough for useful illumination while being less visible
to the human eye than shorter wavelengths, which is why most
security cameras and their illuminators are built around 850nm. Q: Does the lens keep focus between day and night modes? Yes. The optical design is corrected for the focus shift between
visible light and 850nm NIR, so the image stays sharp when the
camera switches from color day mode to black and white night mode.
This removes the need for motorized IR compensation in many
applications. Q: Can you supply a complete lens assembly for our camera board? Yes. We provide board-level lenses with M12 or M8 mounts, and C/CS
mount versions for larger sensors. Send us your sensor size, pixel
pitch, and housing envelope, and we will match the focal length and
back focal length to your module. Q: How is NIR transmission verified? Each batch is measured with a spectrophotometer at 850nm and across
the 400-1000nm range, and the measured curve is included with the
shipment. Transmission at 850nm is guaranteed above 98 percent. |
