I.Introduction

Wireline Link jar is mainly used in downhole device for shearing dowels in the process of casting and fishing. When strong strength is required for downhole device fishing, it can provide jolting force far bigger than wireline tension to complete the operation. Link jar is connected in the lower end of stem. Jarring process is an acting process requiring bigger jolting force.It mainly depends on the mass of stem and speed of relative motion of link jar’s main and subsidiary chains during collision. The speed of downward motion is obtained mainly through the downward gravity motion of stem, so the strength is limited. But the speed of upward motion can be obtained through hoisting barrel’s speed. Appropriate

hoisting barrel operation can help to obtain a very large ascending speed.

III.Structure characteristics and Application

With simple structure, link jar is convenient to use by up-down jarring. It is the most commonly used jar mainly constituted by the main and subsidiary chains of jar. During the action process, main and subsidiary chains can produce larger speed of relative motion. Their bumping can produce impact force.

IV.Matters need attention

1. Link jar is the simplest and most commonly used jar. But wireline may be stuck into the groove of link jar when fishing downhole wirelines so that tools cannot be pulled out. In such a case, other kinds of jars other than link jar should be used.

2. After using link jar, please keep in good repair to extend its service life.
