DB ( Dumbbell ) Type Silicon Carbide
What is a silicon carbide (SiC) heating element? It is a non-metallic heating component that is widely used in high-temperature applications. The main material is ultra pure green hexagonal silicon carbide, which is processed at a high temperature of 2400 °C to form billets and silicon crystals.
This heating element can operate in an oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature of up to 1450 °C and has a continuous service life of 2000 hours. It offers excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to high temperatures.
The evolution of heating element designs includes the development of dumbbell shaped components with enlarged cold ends. These were initially designed to reduce the cold end temperature by increasing the cross-section and reducing resistance. However, with advancements in technology, non dumbbell or ED type components have emerged as more efficient alternatives.
These newer components use advanced technology to maintain terminal cooling and have lower electrical resistivity. They offer improved performance and are more space-efficient.
