Benzyl-α, β, γ-cyclodextrin

Characteristics and uses:

Compared with alkyl group, benzyl group has poor flexibility, which prevents some molecules from entering the cyclodextrin cavity to form stable inclusion. Therefore, it has stronger selective function and can be applied to the separation of isomers, such as gas and liquid chromatographic packings.

Benzyl group introduced new force (PI - pi force) into cyclodextrin and changed the molecular structure of cyclodextrin. Hard benzyl group can expand cyclodextrin cavity containing molecules and enhance the recognition ability of the parent.

The introduction of benzyl group gives cyclodextrin a specific wavelength of ultraviolet absorption, which provides a probe for the compound study of cyclodextrin and ultraviolet absorption guest molecules.

Benzyl can be used as a specific protection site of cyclodextrin, and is one of the important protective bases for cyclodextrin chemical synthesis. Benzyl cyclodextrin is an important synthetic intermediate for cyclodextrin modification.
