Woven Mesh Conveyor Belt Introduction

Rod network belts, also known as enrober conveyor belts or flat flex conveyor belts, feature specially designed "Z-bend" joints in the wire mesh. They are perfect for transporting light and medium weight products in food processing industries.

Flat flex conveyor belt is the simplest type among all type of steel mesh conveyor belt. The materials of flat flex conveyor belt are stainless steel, high carbon steel, galvanized steel and other steel wires.

Flat flex conveyor belt is constructed by several loop wires and then be formed different edge. The simple structure make it economical and lightweight. It can help to save cost and reduce downtime.

The standard flat flex conveyor belt is flat and without any convex or concave surface. The standard flat flex conveyor belt is suitable for almost all the applications. Except for the standard flat flex conveyor belt, there are two other types of flat flex conveyor belt. They can be used in different applications for fixing and sorting. Mesh Types:

The Balanced spiral style of belting is the most common design for friction driven belts.
It is suggested for first consideration in all applications unless particular design requirements dictate the use of another type of belt.
Providing the widest variety of strengths, aperture sizes, wire diameters and surface characteristics the design of the belt means that it is easily tracked and may be used at elevated temperatures.
Mesh choice is virtually unlimited but it is dependent upon the requirements of the intended application, product size and weight, support considerations, as well as the operating temperature.
The balanced nature of this particular product, comprising of clockwise and anti-clockwise spirals, allows for optimum tracking qualities conversant with straight-running processes.

A variation on the balanced spiral weave of belt, the double balanced construction consists of pairs of interconnected right and left-handed spirals. The connectors are crimped on the more open meshes and straight pins on the tighter mesh specifications or where high operating temperatures are being used.
This construction provides greater strength and smaller openings than the comparable balanced spiral specifications, and it is suitable for ambient, medium and high temperature processing applications.
These belts can be manufactured in a wide range of materials including a large variety of Nickel Chrome alloys.
Edges are generally knuckled or welded and side-plates and cross flights can be added if required.
These belts are recommended for applications where heavy loads are conveyed at high temperatures such as in annealing, brazing or carburizing furnaces.

This is the simplest of all belt designs and comes with either a welded or a knuckled selvedge. It is suitable for side mesh on filter belts, collapsible mesh screens or applications where tracking characteristics are not critical.
Chain link belting is mainly suitable for the handling of small and lighter weight products. The permissible load on this type of belting is relatively small compared to other types of wire belting that are available.
Straight running on friction driven conveyors is facilitated by the joining together of left and right- handed panels by means of either a straight or crimped connecting rod.
This design of belt is used in light duty drying and cooling applications as well as general conveying.
They are also used when a relatively low initial cost is required as these belts are very economical and relatively cheap to manufacture.

A heavy-duty weave belt that has a very high tensile strength compared to its low thermal capacity. This design of belt has a very good weight to load ratio and is used for the conveying of heavy loads especially at elevated temperatures to a maximum of 1150 degrees centigrade.
This belt is essentially twice as strong as a conventional weave belt and its construction helps to minimise elongation and width contraction at very high operating temperatures.
This style of belt also has a smooth conveying surface and a high density. It is available with either a welded or a knuckled selvedge depending upon its operating conditions.
Applications include sintering, annealing, brazing, hardening and tempering processes.

This is a very heavy-duty style of woven wire belting which is very similar to the rod reinforced design except that it is made up of “double” coils.
This helps to decrease the percentage of open area whilst increasing the weight and tensile strength of the belt. Subsequently, this allows for a closer mesh designation which is efficient for the conveying of small parts in high temperature furnace applications.

In order to obtain a very closely woven mesh belt it is possible to multiply the number of spirals and cross-rods per pitch and this construction is known as Cordweave or compound weave belting.
This type of belt is ideally suited to the conveying of very small items such as rice, grain or very small fasteners.
Where necessary side-plates and cross flights can be fitted where goods are being transported up an incline or when conveying heavy loads.
Its precision manufacture helps to minimise belt stretch and edge sagging, thus ensuring an extended belt life in many friction driven applications.
This compound balanced weave specification is extremely smooth and its high density ensures that heat is transferred uniformly across the entire width of the belt at elevated temperatures.
Widely used for baking bands this weave of belt can also be manufactured with flattened spiral wires for an even smoother, more stable surface when conveying unstable objects.
This design of belt is predominantly used in the baking industry for processing, biscuits, crackers and a variety of snack food products.

Flat spiral belts are very closely assembled meshes consisting of right and left-hand spirals, to aid its straight tracking capabilities. These belts are connected with straight cross-rods and are available with a welded, U-pin or laddered selvedge.
This type of belt produces a very smooth conveying surface and this makes it suitable for carrying articles with a relatively small base requiring uniform support.
Primarily used in applications where small apertures are required in conjunction with a flat conveying surface.
Such belts are primarily used in bakeries and washing plant applications.
Side chains, cross flights and side plates can also be added to these belts where a positively driven configuration is required.

Chain driven woven wire mesh belts should be considered whenever timing, transfer or positive belt drive is important. This includes applications incorporating inclined travel, heavy loads, long distance conveying or when transporting items through quenching liquids, cooking oils or similar slippery environments.
A multitude of specifications are available depending upon the size of the product being transported.
The balanced spiral weave belt should be given first consideration for chain edged belts as it is economical, comes in a wide range of wire diameters and aperture sizes and is suitable for the majority of applications.
A conventional weave belt is easier to clean due to the weave having unobstructed openings.
Chain driven belts also facilitate the addition of special features such as side plates and cross flights where necessary.
Chain selection is usually determined by the strength and speed of the belt required in conjunction with the loading and operating temperature of the process.
