This biocompatible sapphire endoscope lens is machined from single crystal sapphire, the hardest optical material used in medical devices today. With a Mohs hardness of 9, the sapphire endoscope lens resists scratches from surgical instruments, bone fragments, and abrasive cleaning tools that would permanently damage glass windows.
