Polyacrylonitrile-based graphite felt is stronger and more resistant to oxidation than viscose-based graphite felt, but it has poor flexibility, large bulk density, and good thermal insulation performance. In addition to their high purity, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and non-melting characteristics, they also have the advantages of elasticity, foldability, tailoring, and sewing with graphite yarn.
The main use of graphite felt is as a thermal insulation material for single crystal silicon smelting furnace. In the chemical industry, it can be used as a filter material for high purity corrosive chemical reagents. Under non-oxidizing atmosphere, the temperature of graphite felt can reach 2850℃.
