This module mainly tests the numerical value of SpO2, and the stability of the reading over time is affected by the average mode used. The longer the average time, the more stable the reading will be. A longer average time will delay the response of the oximeter and reduce the measurement changes of SpO2 and PR. The stability of numerical values may be a good indicator of signal effectiveness.
Inaccurate SpO2 readings may be caused by the following reasons:
Improper application of sensors.
Elevated levels of COHb or MetHb:
SpO2 appears to be normal. When there is suspicion of elevated levels of COHb or MetHb, laboratory analysis (CO oximetry) should be performed on blood samples.
