The following figure and table describe the connectors on the back of the monitor.

Separating the Front and Rear Case Assemblies

To open the monitor to install internal spares, the front and back housing assemblies must first be separated.

To separate front and back case assemblies:

1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the monitor.

2. Remove the battery from the monitor

3. Disconnect all cables from the patient monitor and communication ports

4. Tilt the monitor and remove the four Torx T20 screws (two on top, two on bottom) holding the front and back together.

Note: Remove the four additional screws from the rear frame of the SureSigns VM8 patient monitor.

5. Separate the front and rear main body assemblies by pulling on the bottom edge of the front body assembly and gently and carefully lifting it over the handle.

6. Disconnect the keyboard ribbon cable from the circuit board by pulling on the keyboard connector to release it, and then gently pull the ribbon cable out of the connector.

7. Disconnect the other three cables from the motherboard.

When assembling the front and rear shells

1. Connect all cables.

2. To reinstall the front and rear housings, align the tabs on the front housing with the handles on the rear housing and slide the front housing onto the handles. Snap the two assembly boxes together.

3. Install the last four screws (the last eight screws on the VM8) and power on the monitor. If the monitor boots normally, perform the required performance tests
