Cost-Effective And High-Density Drive In Pallet Storage Rack System
►Drive-in pallet racking is one of, if not the, most
space-efficient storage systems manufactured by Ironstone. This
type of pallet racking is ideal for storing goods purchased in
large quantities or in bulk, as well as warehouses with slow stock
rotational requirements. If storage capacity is critical to your
warehouse facility, this system is an excellent choice. Eliminating
aisles increases storage density at the expense of selectivity, as
the first pallet into a lane is the last pallet out. This is not a
disadvantage in applications where pallets are received and
dispatched in batch quantities.
►Drive-in pallet racking allows users to maximize available space
in your warehouse because service aisles are significantly reduced
when compared to other pallet racking systems. Our high-density
racking system provides maximum pallet storage capacity and uses
pallet rails to transport the pallets, ensuring that each pallet is
individually supported, preventing damage from crushing due to
block stacking. Trucks can physically enter the racking lanes to
deposit and retrieve pallets thanks to the pallet rails. To reduce
the likelihood of racking damage, floor mounted guidance rails can
be incorporated into the design. ►Drive-in racking systems are more common because they can be
easily positioned with their backs to a wall, eliminating the need
for an aisle to access the back side and saving a significant
amount of aisle space. Drive-in systems are generally less
expensive because they do not require fully braced bays or three
columns of beams/bracing. There is also less risk because the
system presents fork truck operators with a more uniform system.
Details of Drive-in and Drive-through Racks
Drive-In versus Drive-Thru The way pallets are stocked and picked differs between drive-in and
drive-through pallet rack systems. The forklift will only load and
unload pallets on one side of the racks with the drive-in system.
The term "drive-in" refers to the fact that the truck enters the
system from only one side. Drive-in pallet racking is best suited
to a last in, first out (LIFO) system and products that do not
require rapid movement. Drive-through pallet racking involves the forklift loading pallets
on one side and unloading pallets on the opposite side. In this
system, the truck uses rails to unload and load product after
driving into the racks themselves. Drive-through pallet racking is
best suited to first in, last out (FILO) systems because it is
useful for products that move quickly. Benefits Of Drive-In Racking Systems
♦High-Density Storage
One of the primary, and oftentimes most important, advantages of a drive-in racking system is that it allows you to improve your density storage. It maximizes and adds value to your warehouse. This type of system has the potential to increase usable square footage. A properly optimized system can support 6-8 pallets deep.
♦Easy To Move, Change The Structure, And Upgrade As Needed
With a few training sessions, your employees and warehouse personnel will be able to manage this type of system with ease. Its cross-beam patterns are simple to follow. All of your employees, particularly your forklift drivers, require additional loading procedure training. Another significant advantage is that the system is easily upgradeable — with just a few tweaks, you can add more storage.
♦Warehouse Space Optimization
You can reconfigure your warehouse space with a drive-in racking system, trimming the fat and making it leaner and more efficient. Clients increased their storage space by 80% by switching to an optimized line and storage configuration. You can use less space if you have a versatile and densely oriented system with fewer aisles.
♦Great For Storing A Large Number Of Homogenous Materials
The versatility of a drive-in racking system has its limits — which doesn’t necessarily make it a con. Most of these systems are optimized for one type of product or material.
♦Low Maintenance And Low Assembly Costs
A drive-in racking system is extremely affordable and easy to assemble. Not only that, but due to its high quality and durable materials, it is exceptionally practical when it comes to maintenance.
Components of the Systems
Drive-in and drive-through pallet racking systems are comprised of uprights and rail beams. The uprights provide vertical support, and the rail beams are used for pallet storage that is extremely dense. In this system, product is stored both back-to-back and floor-to-ceiling. This means that on average, you can store seven times more products when compared to another pallet rack system. Drive-in and drive-through pallet racks can also be connected to a standard pallet rack or customized design.
Design Specification for Warehouse Solution of Drive-in Racking System:
1). Dimensions of pallet & goods: Length× Width× Height;
2). Total weight of goods (including pallet);
3). Forklift maximum lifting height & net usable height in the warehouse;
4). Forklift model & parameters;
5). Direction and requirements for goods moving in and out;
6). Building conditions of storage area in the warehouse;
