Detailed Product Description
MCP4Y10-N002
NVIDIA 2m OSFP to OSFP Passive Direct Attach Copper Cable
Twin-port 2x400Gb/s (up to 800Gb/s aggregate) for InfiniBand NDR and Ethernet 800GbE applications. Low latency, near-zero power consumption, plug-and-play.
Product Overview
The NVIDIA MCP4Y10-N002 is a high-performance OSFP (Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable) to OSFP passive direct attach copper cable (DAC). Designed for 800Gb/s twin-port InfiniBand NDR (Next Data Rate) and 800GbE Ethernet applications, this cable provides a cost-effective, ultra-low latency, and near-zero power consumption interconnect solution for data center networks.
Each cable contains eight high-speed copper pairs operating at 100Gb/s per lane using PAM4 modulation, delivering an aggregate bandwidth of 800Gb/s per port (2x400Gb/s twin-port configuration). The 2-meter length uses 26AWG wire gauge and features finned-top connectors for optimal thermal performance in high-density switch environments.
Key Features
  • 800Gb/s Aggregate Bandwidth - Twin-port 2x400Gb/s over OSFP interface
  • Lowest Latency - Passive copper design eliminates signal processing delay
  • Near-Zero Power - Consumes approximately 0.1W, no cooling required for cable
  • Dual Protocol Support - Automatically detects and supports InfiniBand or Ethernet
  • 100G-PAM4 Modulation - 8 channels at 100Gb/s per lane
  • Hot Pluggable - SFF-8665 and OSFP MSA compliant
  • LSZH Jacket - Low Smoke Zero Halogen for safety compliance
  • RoHS Compliant - Lead-free and halogen-free PCB
Applications
  • NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand Switches - Switch-to-switch interconnects
  • NVIDIA Spectrum-4 Ethernet Switches - 800GbE fabric connections
  • Switch to DGX H100/H200 - GPU server connectivity
  • AI Training Clusters - High-density spine-leaf topologies
  • HPC Data Centers - Low-latency compute fabric interconnects
  • Switch-to-Switch Stacking - Short-range, cost-effective links

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between MCP4Y10-N002 and MCP4Y10-N002-FLT?
A: The -FLT suffix indicates flat-top connectors, designed for liquid-cooled switches or DGX H100 systems where finned-top connectors do not fit. The standard MCP4Y10-N002 uses finned-top connectors for better thermal dissipation in air-cooled switches.
Q: Can this cable be used for both InfiniBand and Ethernet?
A: Yes. The EEPROM firmware supports both protocols. The cable automatically detects and enables the appropriate protocol based on the switch port it is connected to.
Q: What is the maximum recommended length for passive DAC at 800Gb/s?
A: For 800Gb/s operation (using PAM4 modulation), the maximum recommended passive DAC length is 2 meters for 26AWG. For longer distances, active optical cables (AOC) are recommended.
Q: Is the cable hot-swappable?
A: Yes. OSFP connectors are designed for hot-pluggable operation. Standard ESD precautions should be observed during installation or removal.
Handling Precautions
Follow standard ESD handling procedures during installation. Do not exceed the minimum bend radius (10x cable OD for repeated bends, 5x for single bend). Use protective caps until installation to prevent contamination. For detailed guidelines, refer to the NVIDIA Cable Management Guidelines document.
