ZF-VPM Series Piston Variable Frequency Air Compressor A piston air compressor is a mechanical device that compresses
gases through the reciprocating motion of a piston within a
cylinder. It belongs to the category of positive displacement
compressors.
I. Working PrincipleA piston air compressor utilizes an electric motor to drive a
crankshaft, which in turn moves a connecting rod and piston within
a cylinder: - Suction Phase: The piston moves downward, creating a vacuum that opens the
suction valve, allowing gas to enter the cylinder.
- Compression Phase: The piston moves upward, closing the suction valve and
compressing the gas, increasing its pressure and temperature.
- Discharge Phase: When the pressure in the cylinder reaches the set value, the
discharge valve opens, and the compressed gas is expelled.
Through the reciprocating motion of the piston, gas is continuously
compressed and delivered to an air receiver or pneumatic equipment.
II. Structural Features- Core Components:
- Cylinder: The chamber where gas compression occurs.
- Piston: Moves reciprocally within the cylinder to facilitate gas suction,
compression, and discharge.
- Crankshaft and Connecting Rod Mechanism: Converts the rotary motion of the motor into the reciprocating
motion of the piston.
- Suction and Discharge Valves: Control the flow of gas, ensuring efficient compression.
- Auxiliary Systems:
- Lubrication System: Reduces wear on moving parts such as pistons and crankshafts.
- Cooling System: Dissipates heat generated during compression to prevent
overheating.
- Safety Valve: Automatically releases pressure when it exceeds the set limit to
ensure safety.
III. ApplicationsPiston air compressors are widely used in: - Industrial Manufacturing: Providing compressed air for pneumatic tools, painting equipment,
and automated production lines.
- Construction Industry: Driving pneumatic hammers and rock drills.
- Chemical Industry: For gas transportation and reactor agitation.
- Mining: Powering rock drills and pneumatic tools.
- Food and Pharmaceuticals: Supplying clean compressed air in sterile environments.
IV. Advantages - Wide Pressure Range: Capable of delivering compressed air from low to high pressures,
suitable for various applications.
- Simple Structure: Mature design, easy to manufacture and maintain.
- High Versatility: Adaptable to different gas compositions and operating conditions.
