GE FANUC IC697CMM741 , Ethernet Programmable Controller In The
90-70 Series
Product Description
The IC697CMM741 is an ethernet programmable controller in the 90-70
series. The IC697CMM741 controller is a member of the IC651 Factory
LAN hardware and software product family. This group offers high
performance solutions for interconnecting automation controllers.
The IC697CMM741 controller is designed to be plugged into one slot
in the IC697 PLC rack. The IC697CMM741 controller allows direct PLC
attachment to IEEE 802.3 CSMA/CD LAN. It is equipped with a
standard 15-pin AUI port connection and is designed for IC697
controllers. An AUI or transceiver cable can be supplied by the
user. It uses a single slot in the PLC rack, and software is easy
to load and/or upgrade. Additionally, software is saved through
power outages for at least six months.
When installing the IC697CMM741 controller into the PLC rack, power
should be turned OFF from the rack. Connect the battery with the
front cover front-facing and the hinge to the right. The batter
cable’s tab should face away from the board’s surface. Once the
battery is connected to one of the connectors, simply press down to
lock. Insert the controller into the appropriate slot (generally
the first slot to the right of the CPU or the BTM. Do not force the
board when locking. It is important to note that the Ethernet
controller will not function correctly if there are empty slots to
its left. CAUTION: The green ground wire must be securely fastened
to the chassis of the rack, and the rack must be grounded to ensure
the LAN’s functionality.
About IC697CMM741
The IC697CMM741 interface device is manufactured by GE Fanuc in its
Series 90-70 product line to be an interface for TCP/IP Ethernet
LAN devices or for GE Series 90-70 MMS devices. The IC697CMM741
interface is also an Ethernet controller, and it can attach PLCs
directly to a LAN like the IEEE 802.3 CSMA/CD LAN. This Ethernet
controller is made for the GE Series 90-70 IC 697 programmable
controllers and it only needs 1 slot in the PLC rack to be mounted
securely. The software that the IC697CMM741 Ethernet controller
uses can be loaded or upgraded easily through the RAM, and the
controller can retain its software after a power outage for 6
months minimum. The software that it can use includes the TCP/IP
and MMS/OSI communications software, the complete Windows and DOS
programming and communication software, and software that is made
for comprehensive diagnostics and station management.
The GE Series 90-70 IC697CMM741 Ethernet controller and interface
can connect to a transceiver device through either a user-supplied
transceiver cable or an AUI (Attachment Unit Interface) cable
through its standard D-type connector that has 15 pins. The cable
and transceiver are how the Ethernet controller makes its
connection to the Ethernet LAN. The users can monitor the status of
the controller’s interface with its 3 LEDs. The RAM in the
IC697CMM741 Ethernet controller uses a battery for backup and the
RAM stores all the communication software. This controller and
interface device also has ROM and firmware that store the basic
functions, configuration software, and diagnostics features that it
uses.
