Product Details

The AB 1794-IT8 module is a FLEX thermocouple input module that can receive 8 signals at a time from thermocouple sensors. The 1794-IT8 thermocouple input module allows thermocouple temperature sensors to interact with PLCs that are performing various calculations based on temperature readings. This module performs the initial digital processing of the thermocouple signal. As a part of the AB FLEX I/O system, the 1794-IT8 is mounted on the terminal base and it encompasses the bus interface and the circuitry needed to perform temperature-generated millivolt signal processing related to the users’ applications. The module can be mounted on 3 terminal base units: the 1794-TB2, 1794-TB3, and the 1794-TB3T. Before inserting the 1794-IT8 module on the terminal base, the users should rotate the key switch on the base to Position 3 because this position is required for the safe mounting and operation of the thermocouple/mV module.


The AB 1794-IT8 FLEX I/O thermocouple module communicates with PLCs through the block-transferring option. Block transfer programming relies on input signal data words moving between the thermocouple module’s memory and a designated area in the PLC’s data table. Block transfer programming also supports the moving of the configuration words from the PLC data table to the thermocouple module. The AB 1794-IT8 module comes with 2 cold junction compensators that are engineered to be mounted in designated positions on the terminal base unit. The module can accept grounded and ungrounded thermocouples. The nominal input range for the input signals is -7.65 to 7.65 mV. The module is supplied with 24 Volts DC voltage and it has 16-bit input signal resolution. On the front side of the module, there is 1 inserted label with 8 fields reserved for individual input designations. The 1794-IT8 has a normal mode rejection ratio of -60 dB at 60 Hertz, a common mode input range of +/-10 Volts, and a common mode rejection ratio of -115 dB at 60 Hertz and of 100 dB at 50 Hertz.
