Detailed Product Description

Corrosion Resistant Welding Cable for Forklift Lead Acid Batteries

LK-Cable-25: rubber jacket outside, copper inside, 25mm², a soft connection for forklift and stacker batteries. A cable is two materials working together, and each one fails for a different reason.

The Two Layers

Layer 1, the jacket

Rubber, black. Its job is wear resistance and to keep the conductor sealed away from acid mist, coolant and floor traffic. A jacket that abrades through ends the cable life long before the copper does.

Layer 2, the conductor

Copper, stranded so the lead can bend. Its job is to carry the current with as little loss as possible and to survive being flexed every time a battery is swapped.

Why the Soft Connection Matters

A battery does not sit still. It is slid out for watering, lifted for a swap, and it moves a few millimetres every time the truck takes a bump. The lead between cells has to absorb that movement. A stiff cable refuses, and the movement is transferred to the terminal, which is why a loose battery post is so often the first sign of a cable that was too rigid for the job.

What the Jacket Is Protecting Against

Three things, in a battery room. Acid mist from vent caps, which dries into a film that attacks rubber. Abrasion, from a lead that rests against a tray edge or gets dragged across a floor. And heat, from a terminal that has started to run warm. A jacket handles the first two by being thick enough and rubber rather than a hard plastic; the third it cannot fix, and a softened jacket near a lug is a warning rather than a fault.

Fitting and Replacing

Measure centre to centre with the pack assembled, cut nothing on site, and check that the finished lead curves rather than pulls. Where a lead is being replaced because a terminal came loose, look at the old cable before fitting the new one: if the lug has been moving, the terminal post may need attention too.

Applications

Cell interlinks and terminal connections on electric forklifts, stackers and pallet trucks using lead acid traction batteries, including rebuilds where the original lead has hardened or chafed.

FAQ

Is the length fixed?

No, the centre length is customized to your measurement.

What is the conductor?

Copper, in a black rubber jacket.

Is 25mm² enough?

It suits the load it was specified for; for higher-current runs a larger section in the same range is the right answer.

Can it be used on a stacker?

Yes, stacker and forklift battery connections are both listed applications.
