M16/M32/M40/M60 threaded Injection Molding Clamping Force Measurement Sensor FCM is made of high stiffness alloy steel based on foil strain
gauge technology to deliver 2.0mV/V rated output proportional to
the applied force.Pancake load cell FCM offers 0.5 ton / 1ton
/ 2 ton / 3ton / 5 ton / 7ton / 10 ton / 20ton / 25 ton / 30ton /
50 ton / 60ton / 100ton thirteen rated capacities to choose
from. Compressive load cell FCM is suitable for both static and
dynamic force measurement in tension and compression direction.Low
profile structure makes it also suitable for in-line force
monitoring.Clamp Force Sensor FCM is designed with a metric threaded hole running through the
center of the transducer which can be used to mount attachments
such as load buttons,eye bolts or other adapters for force
loading,this makes spoke type load cells very adaptable to various
cases, you may find pancake type load cell FCM applicable for force
measurement in injection-molding machines, press machines and
material testing equipment, weight measurement for tanks, vessels
and hoppers, and so on. Custom made service is available if you
need different dimensions or capacities.
A load cell sensor is a transducer that converts a load or force
acting on it into electronic signal which is proportional to the
load(or force) being applied.The measured load or force causes
deformation of the measuring element(elastic body),the bonded
strain gauge deforms accordingly which will cause the resistance
change of the wheatstone bridge,under constant power supply,the
output signal between Sig+ and Sig- will change proportionally,thus
the load/force can be measured by measuring the output signal from
the load cell.Pancake load cell FCM outputs millivolt signal which
is normally within -30mV...+30mV,and signal amplification may be
required for most applications,a load cell signal transmitter can
be used to get 0-5V,0-10V or 4-20mA signal for easy data acquisition
afterwards.Weight indicator can be used to display the measured
value,load cell display FPT is integrated with high accuracy 24 bit
Sigma-Delta ADC,sampling speed up to 960Hz,supports RS485 or RS232
communication port,can also output 0-5V,0-10V,0-20mV or 4-20mA
amplified signal.

Clamping force is the force needed to hold the mold together during
injection and it is applied by the clamping unit of an injection
molding machine. It may cause mold failure like air bubbles,
cavities, wall cracks, etc. if the clamping force is not monitored
and controlled properly.Forsentek load cells can be used to monitor
the total clamping pressure, during plastic injection molding and
die casting, the mold is clamped together to resist the rapid
thermal expansion and contraction caused by the molten material
filling the mold cavity. Flawed parts can be created if the mold is
not kept properly clamped to resist thermal loading throughout the
molding and casting process.To mitigate these thermal effects,
Pancake Load Cells are placed at the clamp contact points, enabling
the injection molding machine to monitor the clamping pressure in
injection molding and adjust clamping forces accordingly
Output signal of load cell and amplifier:
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output of Pancake Load Cell FCM is normally around 2.0mV/V.
Power supply of Compression Load cell FCM is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the output range of Universal Force Sensor FCM is normally
within 0…+30mV.(-30mV…+30mV output for tension and compression
force measurement.
Example one: Compression Load Cell FCM-10t with 2.0mV/V sensitivity
powered by 5V DC, the output range is 0mV...+10mV.
Example two: Pancake Load Cell FCM-20ton with 2.0mV/V rated output
powered by 10V DC,the output range is 0mV...+20mV.
The mV/V output from the wheatstone bridge sometimes can hardly be
processed directly, a signal conditioner can be used with the load
cell to deliver 0~5V, 0-10V or 4-20mA output.
Example one: Compression Force Load Cell FCM-10t working with
amplifier FSC(0-10V)-24V,the Load-Voltage relationship will be
0-10000kg compression force VS 0-10V output, which is linear
regardless of the measurement error, 1V output corresponds to
1000kg compression load, 2V output corresponds to 2000kg
compression load, and so on.
Example two: Pancake Load Cell FCM-50ton working with amplifier
FSC(4-20mA)-24V,the Force-Current relationship will be 0-50ton
compression force VS 4-20mA output, which is linear regardless of
the measurement error, 4mA output corresponds to “0” load, 5.6mA
output corresponds to 5ton compression load, 12mA output
corresponds to 25ton compression load, and so on.
