What is NFPA 20?

NFPA( National Fire Protection Association ), which mainly lay down Fire codes,standards,

operating instructions,manuals and guidelines etc.NFPA20 is a specialized standard for the

designation and installation of fire pump groups.

The real meaning of UL/FM?

Notice “/ ” means “or” → UL or FM:

Project can be UL-listed or FM-approved, one of them is OK.

FM certification is higher than UL certification,

if it is a project insured by FM, every main products,

like pump, diesel engine, controller and etc. must be got FM certification;

So, the price & quality requirement of FM-approved projects is reasonably higher than

the price & quality requirement of UL-listed projects.

However, no matter when talking about UL-listed or FM-approved project,

motors are still UL certificated all around the word,

also the FM institution does not have a mandatory rule about motors, at present.

So, when clients send an enquiry about UL/FM, we always have to ask:” is it a project insured by FM or not?”
