Operating Instructions

■ After the pipe is cut half, insert the steel wedge into the slit of the cut pipe to prevent the pipe from clamping.
■ Sharp cutters will ensure safe, accurate, dependable cuts. Please carefully observe whether the cutting tool is sharp before cutting.
■ The cutting condition will be drier when cutting cast iron and ductile iron pipe. Usea thread cutting oil or a water soluble cutting oil on steel and stainless steel pipe to lubricate the cutters and help maintain sharpness.
■ Use specialized guide track when cutting in a vertical position or when exact accuracy is required.
■ Adjust the feed rate to reduce or eliminate cutter overload. Feed valve must be opened very slowly to achieve a slower feed rate. For complete control of feed speed, install throttle valve in the feed line.
■ The maximum effective cutting rate for the Travel Cutter on ductile iron is approximately one minute per inch of diameter. Some cast iron, steel, heavy wall pipe and beveling will require a slower feed rate.

Safety Instructions

■ Make sure the work pieces are supported adequately for installation of the equipment. This includes supporting any of the work pieces “fall-off” section when serving the work piece. Ensuring support of the work piece is the responsibility of the operator.
■ Tools on any cutting equipment including drills, milling tools, etc.-may get very hot. Do not touch the tools until you have made sure it is not too hot to handle.
■ Before performing any service on the equipment, disconnect the power source. Follow all procedures required at the worksite.
