The fiber optic gyroscope principle is an inertial navigation instrument based on optical principles, which uses the characteristics of optical fibers to measure the rotational angular speed, so as to achieve accurate measurements of directions such as heading, pitch and roll.When a beam of light travels in a circular channel, if the circular channel itself has a rotational speed, it takes more time for the light to travel in the direction the channel is rotating than it takes to travel in the opposite direction along the channel. That is to say, when the optical loop rotates, in different directions, the optical path of the optical loop will change relative to the optical path of the loop at rest. Using the change of optical path to detect the phase difference or the change of interference fringe of the two optical paths, you can measure the rotation angular speed of the optical path, which is the working principle of the fiber optic gyroscope.
