Introudction of Hydraulic Jar for open hole and cased hole
The hydraulic jar is able to help free the stuck tools by the
sudden impact, which serves as the safety tool in openhole and
cased hole drill stem testing operation. Two size of the hydraulic
jars are available to meet the different well requirement including
3 7/8in and 5in.

Hydraulic Jar Function Test requirements and procedure
Test Equipment Requirement :
- One hydraulic pump: 5L/1Minute, work pressure should be above
20000PSI
- 780KN Pulling delay mechanismAir compressor: Work pressure should
be above 150PSI (1MPa).
- Power, clamp, test caps, test pulling caps, pressure gauge, box
spanner, pressure collection system and related high-handed pipe,
sensor, computer, printer；
Function test - Tools function Testing
- Time-Delay function Testing
- a. Fill in special hydraulic oil from the oil filler plug in outer
case, and bleed off from oil filler plug in splined case, observe
that if there is no air bubbles bleed off from oil filler plug in
splined case shows that the tool is full with hydraulic oil.
- b. Attached the tool on the testing vise and start the pull
time-delay testing. Pull off the tool in 10 times continuously and
record the time-delay time, require that each time-delay time
should less than previous, and the last time-delay time should be
1-2 minutes, the pull strength should be 222.2kN(50000lbs).
- c. Time-delay adjusting
HSE Safety instructions: - When running each pressure test, you must increase pressure
gradually. When the pressure is up to 30MPa, hold on for one
minute, then every 10MPa keep it for one minute until the rating
pressure;
- During doing the pressure test, the tool should be placed in the
test pit and cover the protecting board on the pressure test plug.
- During the whole process, make sure the entire test operator keep
away from plug and joint which may lapse.
- Test area should set isolation, others except operator not allowed
to enter test area.
- If there is anybody in the test area, it should set isolation,
avoiding test production fly off the test area.
The drill stem testing tools are applied in cased hole, open hole
and slim hole, the main DST tool string includes RTTS packer,
circulating valve, safety joint, select tester valve, omni valve,
hydraulic jar, shock absorber, RD safety circulating valve, high
pressure retrievable packer with bypass, IPO valve, tubing string
test valve, and so on.
