Iron Wire Mesh Gabion Wall Cages is made of twisted hexagonal woven mesh. The metal wire used to make gabion baskets is made of soft tensile heavy galvanized steel, and PVC coating can also be used for additional corrosion protection when the application requires. The double twisting of the woven wire mesh provides structural integrity, strength and continuity by increasing the non-loosening effect of preventing any accidental damage from spreading. Fastening wires are used to assemble and interconnect empty units and to close and fix stone filling units. Once assembled, the basket will be filled with stones at the scene.

Gabion mattress is a woven gabion basket made of galvanized, twisted, hexagonal woven wire mesh. Baskets constructed from individual units are assembled, bundled together, and then filled with stones to form an integral structure. Gabion and Reynolds mattresses are used for retaining walls, sound barriers, canal lining, slope stability, dams and weirs. Gabion Cage Installation Process:

• 1. Ends,diaphragms,front and back panels are placed upright on the bottom section of wire mesh
• 2. Secure panels by screwing sprial binders through the mesh openings in adjacent panels
• 3. Stiffeners shall be placed across the corners, at 300mm from the corner. Providing a diagonal bracing,and crimped
• 4. Box gabion filled with graded stone by hand or with a shovel.
• 5. After filling,close the lid and secure with sprial binders at the diaphragms,ends,front and back.
• 6. When stacking tiers of the weled gabion,the lid of the lower tier may serve as base of the upper tier.Secure with sprial binders and add pre-formed stiffeners to exterior cells before filling with graded stones.

Flexibility: Flexibility is an important benefit of any gabion structure. The double-twist hexagonal mesh construction permits it to tolerate differential settlement without fracture. This property is especially important when a structure is on unstable soil conditions or in areas where scour from wave action or currents can undermine the toe of the structure and cause structural settlement.
Durability: Gabions support plant growth which provides a live coating for the wire mesh and stones, adding to their durability. Generally, the wire mesh is needed for the first few years of the structure’s life; later the void between the stones is filled with soil, silt, and plant roots which act as a bonding agent for the stones.
