Pull-Only Rotary Control Cable – Phidix Non-Locking SeriesThis page provides the official overview for Phidix's
industrial-grade non-locking rotary control cables. What Is a Rotary Control Cable?Phidix’s rotary control cable converts rotational input (typically
up to 270°) into linear motion, enabling remote actuation of
mechanical systems—without the complexity of electronics or
hydraulics. This cable is non-locking, meaning it returns freely without
ratcheting or detents. It’s ideal for manual HVAC controls, heater valves, dampers, marine
shut-offs, and other applications where smooth, push-pull motion is
required. Core Working Principle: 270° Turn = 1.5" Linear TravelInternally, the cable features a flexible spiral-wound inner core
housed within a reinforced conduit. The rotary handle turns an input shaft (CW or CCW), driving the
internal wire to create up to 1.5 inches of linear stroke at the
output. A simplified schematic: Rotational Input → Linear Output This design ensures tight transmission, minimal backlash, and
precise movement for systems requiring remote yet mechanical
control. Why Choose Mechanical Rotary Over Electronic Actuation?
Phidix rotary cables are ideal for rugged, space-limited environments where simplicity and reliability matter more than automation. Structural Composition & Materials• Input Shaft: Brass (standard); CW or CCW available • Inner Wire: 1x7 stainless steel core • Housing: Reinforced plastic with mounting threads • Output End: Ball stud, loop, or custom rod fitting Mounting Thread: M12 x 1.0 or 3/8-24 UNF Return Spring: Optional for applications needing reset force Common Applications
This cable is often integrated into panel-mounted rotary knobs, transmitting force to components several feet away—even through curved routing. Technical Specifications
Need a different travel range, thread, or material? View Custom Options → Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Is this cable reversible? Yes. It can be configured for CW or CCW input rotation. Q: Can the cable be mounted in confined dashboards? Absolutely. Its flexible housing and threaded shaft make it easy to panel-mount
in tight enclosures. Q: What’s the minimum order quantity? We offer both low-volume prototypes and OEM-level batch runs. Contact us for details. Q: Can I request longer travel stroke or dual-end actuation? Those are available under custom configurations. See customization page for details.
