The thread lift technique has become popular because it is less invasive, requires a shorter operation, less downtime, and results in fewer postoperative complications. The advantage of the technique is that the thread can be inserted under the skin without the need for long incisions. Currently, there are a lot of thread lift techniques with respect to the specific types of thread used on specific areas, such as the mid-face, lower face, or neck area.

We have three different types of threads for the purpose, namely PDO (polydioxanone) threads, PCL (polycaprolactone) threads, PLLA (Poly L Lactic Acid) threads. PDO threads could last for about 12 months, while PLLA for about 18 months and PCL threads could last for 24 to 36 months. Each individual’s treatment and/or results may vary.

What is Threadlift? 

Threadlift is a minimally invasive injection method using PDO (polydioxanone) thread material to rejuvenate skin and tissues. PDO thread is proven to stimulate collagen formation, hence, it is widely used solely or in combination with other treatment options to create facelift.

Suitable candidates for a thread lift procedure are those who are experiencing mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their early to late 40’s. These patients do not want or are not ready for surgery but want something more than what cosmetic injectable or skin resurfacing/skin tightening procedures can offer.

Mild-Moderate sagging and laxity of the skin in the cheeks, eyebrows, jowls, and neck.
Effects of a previous face-lift or neck-lift are wearing off.
A younger patient with cheek and brow sagging caused by weakened tissue/ recent weight loss.
Have realistic expectations.
