Shell and tube heat exchanger by the shell, heat transfer tube bundle, tube plate, folded plate (baffle) and tube box and other components. The shell is mostly cylindrical, with a tube bundle inside, which is fixed at both ends of the tube plate. The heat transfer is carried out in two kinds of fluid, hot and cold, one flowing inside the tube, called the tube process fluid; the other flowing outside the tube, called the shell process fluid. In order to improve the heat transfer coefficient of the fluid outside the tube, a number of baffles are usually installed in the shell. The baffle plate can increase the speed of the shell process fluid, forcing the fluid to pass through the tube bundle many times laterally according to the specified distance, enhancing the degree of fluid turbulence. Heat exchanger tubes can be arranged in equilateral triangles or squares on the tube plate. The equilateral triangular arrangement is more compact, the fluid outside the tube is turbulent to a high degree, the heat transfer coefficient is large; the square arrangement is convenient for cleaning outside the tube, suitable for easy scaling of the fluid.
