Coil processing involves the slitting and shearing of sheet metal
coils. Coils are the wide rolls of sheet metal. Coils are used in
various industries outside of construction such as food and
beverage, electronics, automotive, tools, and container
manufacturing.
Slitting is the process of taking the wide sheet metal rolls and
cutting them lengthwise into narrower strips or rolls. Multiple
specialty blades are used to cut these sheets. Cut to length steel
is normally shipped flat stacked. Cut to length refers to the
cutting of the uncoiled sections of flat rolled steel to the needed
length.
