Boron Nitride (BN) substrate
Boron nitride is a binary compound composed of equal numbers of nitrogen (N) and boron (B) atoms, with the empirical formula BN. Boron nitride is isoelectronic with carbon, and like carbon, it has several allotropes. Hexagonal boron nitride (α-BN) has a structure similar to graphite and is a very practical lubricant. Cubic boron nitride (β-BN) has a structure similar to diamond, with a hardness second only to diamond, but superior high-temperature resistance.
