CysC overview
The cysteine proteinase inhibitor (CPI) is named cysteine C.
Cystatin C in the circulation is only cleared by glomerular
filtration. It is an endogenous marker that reflects changes in
glomerular filtration rate. It is reabsorbed in the proximal
convoluted tubules, but is completely absorbed after reabsorption.
