SAA Overview
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is a kind of acute phase reaction protein
secreted by the liver, which exists in the blood of healthy people.
When viral or bacterial infection occurs, SAA begins to increase
significantly in 3-6 hours, and increases hundreds or even
thousands of times in acute state. The half-life of SAA is very
short and will decrease rapidly during recovery. It is more
sensitive than CRP, the combination of the two detection can better
distinguish the type of infection, improve the diagnostic
efficiency of virus infection.
