Flexible PCB Board Introduction

FPC's English full spelling Flexible Printed Circuit, which is made into conductor circuit patterns by using photoimaging pattern transfer and etching processes on the surface of a flexible substrate, and the surface and inner layers of double-sided and multi-layer circuit boards The inner and outer layers are electrically connected through the metallized holes, and the surface of the circuit pattern is protected and insulated by PI and the glue layer.

FPC is divided into single-sided boards, hollow boards, double-sided boards, multi-layer boards, and rigid-flex boards.

Basic Information

Flex PCB can be multi-layer just like the usual rigid PCB. 

The Flex PCB using sampples are unlimited, the importance of this technology is not only thought that it is only good for connectors and screen panels.

As for using flex PCB as connectors, it could be a cost effective way compared to rigid ones connected with wires. This is because connecting 2 PCBs together may require a special harness cable or connector desined which will add additional steps in assembly process and more cost for testing and assembly then.
