Oral Flocked Specimen Collection Swabs Disposable Sampling Swab With Flocking Tip
The flocking swab consists of a solid molded plastic applicator
rod, the size and shape of which can be changed. The top of the
applicator is coated with short nylon fibers, which are arranged
vertically. this vertical arrangement is generated by a process
called flocking in which the fibers are sprayed on the tip of the
swab while remaining in the electrostatic field. This method
produces a high absorption thin layer with open structure. The nasal throat swabs usually apply a sterile dacron or rayon swab with a flexible, plastic shaft. The material from the nasopharyngeal swab is dispersed into the liquid medium. Some laboratories recommend removal and disposal of the swab, while others suggest transporting the swab along with the medium.
Instruction 1. Remove the swabs from its package. 2. Ask the patient to open their mouth and vigorously rub the
inside of each cheek and over the gums of the test subject for 30
seconds. 3. Air dry the swab for 3 minutes. 4. Snap the swab at the break point to fit in tube and screw the
cap tightly. 5. Label with appropriate patient information. 6. Place specimen in the biohazard bag and seal bag.
