Brief introduction of the NIBP cuff

The main function of a blood pressure cuff is to generate pressure by inflating and deflating and measuring the patient's blood pressure. Once the

cuff is properly placed around the patient's upper arm, the airbag inflates and compresses the patient's artery, blocking blood flow. The cuff is then

gradually deflated until blood flows freely through the artery. During the process, a pressure sensor in the cuff records blood flow at various

pressures and measures the patient's systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

The specific effects of the cuff on blood pressure measurement results are as follows:

1) If the cuff is too tight, the blood pressure measurement value will be lower than the actual value.

2) If the cuff is too loose, the blood pressure measurement value will be higher than the actual value.

The reason why it occurs above situation ,pls check below :

1) If the cuff is too tight, the pressure on the artery will increase, so the measured blood pressure will be lower than the actual blood pressure.

2) If the cuff is too loose, the cuff will expand circularly after deflation, reducing the contact area with the upper arm, so the measured blood pressure will be higher than the actual blood pressure.

The center of the cuff airbag is located above the brachial artery in the upper arm. The end of the cuff should not be wrapped so that the cuff does

not act as a tourniquet. The bottom of the cuff is 2 to 3 cm above the elbow. If the cuff is too tight, both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure

will be measured lower. If it is too tight, the blood pressure will be higher. Generally, it is considered to be the appropriate tightness when two

fingers can fit in.
