The Newport™ HT70 Ventilator's internal dual battery system consists of two internally independent but coordinated lithium-ion batteries: the Power Pac located on the rear of the ventilator and the auxiliary backup battery inside the ventilator. When new and fully charged, the internal dual battery system provides up to 10 hours of battery life in standard configuration*. The system provides continuous support during transportation, daily activities or power outages.

Proper care and maintenance of the internal dual battery system will ensure maximum lifespan.

The Power Pac Integrated Battery (BAT3271A) is a removable “hot-swappable” battery. It slips on easily and can be replaced with a fully charged battery without disrupting ventilation. Charge the Power Pac for at least 3 hours to reach 100% charge. If the battery is not completely discharged, charging time may be reduced.

When the blower is used in transportation applications, ensure the Power Pac battery is fully charged before use. We strongly recommend carrying an additional, fully charged Power Pac with you during transportation or outdoor applications. The Power Pac can be charged independently of the fan and an LED on the bottom edge indicates the charging status. To check the charging status, press the button on the bottom edge of the Power Pac (green = charge level approximately 90% or more, yellow = incomplete charge, red = empty battery). Always connect the Power Pac to the fan and turn it on to check the actual battery percentage (displayed on the message screen).

The most important setting that affects battery life is Battery Saver. If you turn off the power saving feature, battery life will be reduced by approximately 30%. When power saving mode is enabled, the screen goes into sleep (blank) mode to save power. An active alarm will temporarily interrupt power saving mode and the screen will activate. Power saving functions will resume 2 minutes after the alarm condition resolves. Maximum blood pressure and respiratory rate also affect battery life. If the maximum pressure continues to exceed 30 cmH2O and the respiratory rate is greater than 20, a loss of battery life of 15-25% is expected. Using PEP means that a bias current will be used. Since this means the dual piston will operate during inhalation and exhalation, battery life will be shorter when PEEP is activated. As the battery ages with use, the length of time the fan can operate on battery power from a fully charged state will decrease. If battery life is insufficient, replace the Power Pac battery every 24 months or sooner. If the fan is operating on a Power Pac battery for an extended period of time, ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
