The MAJ-855 auxiliary water tube must be reconditioned each time it is used during an endoscopic procedure, regardless of whether the auxiliary water supply function is used during the procedure.

The MAJ-855 Auxiliary Water Hose is shown below and can be clearly identified by the model name (“MAJ-855”) engraved on the green Luer connector. The connector contains a one-way valve that prevents backflow of fluid through the tubing and prevents water from flowing freely from the other end of the tubing (the metal connector) when the syringe or pump is disconnected from the green Luer connector.

Additional water hose MAJ-855 is part of the standard set of all new endoscopes of the OLYMPUS 160 and 180 series with an additional water hose. The following endoscopes of the OLYMPUS 160/180 series are equipped with auxiliary water channels.

The auxiliary water line MAJ-855 is used to flow sterile water through the auxiliary water channel to flush the endoscopic field during patient examination. Sterile mucosal cleansing water can be delivered manually using a syringe or automatically using an irrigation pump.

The following figure shows the connection for manual flushing of sterile water through the auxiliary water channel using a syringe. The irrigation water flows through the auxiliary channel (a small special tube in the endoscope) and emerges in a strong stream from the distal end of the instrument.

Or, as shown in the figure below, the MAJ-855 can be connected to the tubing of an irrigation pump to automatically flow sterile water through the auxiliary channel of the endoscope for mucosal irrigation.

MAJ-855 water refill lines must be disinfected before first use and after each use (i.e. after each patient examination). Whenever the MAJ-855 auxiliary water supply is connected to an endoscope for clinical use, regardless of whether the auxiliary water supply function is used during the procedure, it must be reprocessed before it can be used again on other patients. The green MAJ-855 one-way valve with Luer connector is important for the safe and efficient use of this accessory. The one-way valve prevents backflow of fluid through the tubing and prevents water from flowing freely from the other end of the tubing (the metal connector) when the syringe or pump is disconnected from the green Luer connector. Do not modify this hose or replace its connections. Connectors should not be removed for reprocessing.
