Warnings and Precautions For maximum safety when using detergents and disinfectants, observe the following warnings and precautions:
be careful Not all disinfectants are effective against all types of contamination. Ensure that the type of disinfectant is appropriate for the intended system or transducer and that the solution concentration and contact time are appropriate for the intended clinical use.
Warnings Disinfectants are recommended based on their chemical compatibility with the product materials and not their biological effectiveness. For information on the bioavailability of disinfectants, refer to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Food and Drug Administration disinfectant manufacturer guidelines and recommendations. Centers for Disease Control.
Warnings If you use a pre-mixed solution, be sure to check the expiration date printed on the solution.
Warnings The level of disinfection required for a device depends on the type of tissue it comes in contact with during use and the type of transducer used. Make sure the type of disinfectant is appropriate for the transducer type and transducer application.
Warnings Using non-recommended disinfectants, using incorrect solution concentrations, or immersing the transducer deeper or longer than recommended can damage or discolor the transducer and void the transducer warranty.
Cautions
Limit the use of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), denatured alcohol, and alcohol-based products on all transducers. For transducers with USB connectors, only the transducer body and lens (acoustic window) can be cleaned with alcohol. For non-TEE converters, only the connector housing and the converter housing and lens can be cleaned with alcohol. For the TEE sensor, the only parts that can be cleaned with alcohol are the connector housing and the control housing. Make sure the solution is only 91% or less isopropanol or 85% or less denatured ethanol. Do not use alcohol to clean any other part of the transducer (including the cable, USB connector, or strain relief) as this may damage those parts of the transducer. This damage is not covered by the warranty or your service contract.
