Refurbished Chison D3C60L Ultrasound Convex Probe 3.5MHZ PN 96-00127-00
Ultrasound probe maintenance is important because the better the condition of the probe, the better the results and the safer it is for the patient. Adequate care will also reduce disruptions, which means greater savings for facilities, more uptime for scans, and better quality of patient care. At Probo Medical we advise you on how to take care of your ultrasound probe, what to do with your probe when it comes to disinfecting and cleaning, and how to decide which disinfectants and cleaning products to use!
Maintenance of ultrasound transducers An important part of the maintenance of ultrasound probes is cleaning and disinfection. Depending on the probe and application, there is a low and high level disinfection. Typically, standard surface transducers are cleaned or sterilized after each study. Any transducer that is inserted into a patient in any way must be highly sterilized after each exam.
Specification
How to sterilize your ultrasound probe Follow package directions when using low-level disinfectant cleaners. Or how to train infection control staff on proper use.
All transducers inserted into the patient such as TEE, EV, ER, surgical etc. must be sterilized to a high level after each use. It is more important to use manufacturer-approved reagents as these chemicals are more aggressive and can damage the transducer more quickly.
High level disinfection is achieved by immersing the transducer in liquid reagents or using the Trophon system. For any disinfection, especially high-level disinfection, the transducer must not be immersed deeper than specified. Prolonged exposure to chemicals can shorten the life of all transducer types.
What to do with your ultrasound probe? Handling and maintenance rules applicable to all converters:
Very important when transporting from room to room Sensors stored in drawers often touch the bottom of the drawer. This should be covered with moss or something soft.
Common mistakes in converter maintenance
If this is not corrected, it forms a memory and does not recover. If this is the case, the transducer may require new cables and may cause image quality issues.
A dangerous example is connecting to a device while immersed in Cidex. If the transducer has holes, it can be damaged. Scenarios like this can lead to an almost infinite number of bad things. If the sensor wobbles due to system movements, Cidex will also splash everywhere.
An example of improper storage is leaving the transducer in the sink after rinsing with Cidex. Hitting the side of the sink will damage the transducer array. To do this, press the handle and slide the transducer forward. It's a perfect example of how an unusual event can lead to expensive repairs.
If this is the case, it means that the transducer is resting on the nose (matrix). This means that the transducer comes very close to being damaged. The damage can only be reduced by a few centimetres.
A spongy film is likely the result of using an unapproved cleaning product.
