► Brief Introduction

AkuPak LITE

Rechargeable lithium-ion battery (LiFePO4), rechargeable battery with charging level display and external charging connections. 33-watt power content, nominal operating voltage 13.2 volt continuous current, nominal capacity 2.5 amps.

Rechargeable with DefiMonitor XD product family, charger base and charger clip.

All specifications apply to the new fully charged AkuPak XD device with a temperature of up to 20°C ± 5°C AkuPak LITE/ AkuPak XD: AkuPak LITE/ AkuPak XD usually lasts Up to 4 years or 1000 charging cycles under the following conditions: AkuPak LITE/AkuPak XD is introduced into the device, and the device only remains on standby and is not used, but only performs the usual self-tests on metrax recommended periods. The environmental temperature at all times is 23°C (± 2°C), so that the age is much lower if the devices are stored at external temperatures. Due to the different criteria that may affect the age of AkuPak LITE/AkuPak XD, Metrax assumes no responsibility for the age of AkuPak LITE/AkuPak XD

► Using Multifunction Electrode Pads

To prepare for defibrillation using multifunction electrode pads:

1. If not pre-connected, connect the pads cable to the defibrillation by aligning the white pointer on the pads cable connector with the white arrow on the green Therapy port. Then push until you hear it click into place.
2. Check the expiration date that appears on the pads package.
3. Inspect the packaging for any damage.
4. Connect the pads connector to the pads cable.

5. Apply the pads to the patient as directed on the pads packaging or according to your organization’s protocol.

► Preparing for Pacing of HeartStart MRx

1. If not pre-connected, connect the pads cable to the HeartStart MRx by aligning the white pointer on the pads cable with the white arrow on the green Therapy port. Then push until you hear it click into place.
2. Make sure the multifunction electrode pads packaging is intact and within the expiration date shown.
3. Connect the pads connector to the pads cable.
4. Apply the pads to the patient as directed on the pads packaging or according to your organization’s protocol. Prepare the patient’s skin prior to applying the pads. Skin is a poor conductor of electricity, so skin preparation is important in achieving good contact.
   • If necessary, clip hair at the electrode sites (or shave sites if needed).
   • Clean and abrade the skin at the electrode site.
   • Dry the electrode sites briskly to increase capillary blood flow in the tissues and to remove oil and skin cells.
5. If pacing in Demand Mode, apply monitoring electrodes and connect the ECG cable to the HeartStart MRx.

► Charging The AkuPak

The AkuPak can be charged in two ways:

• with the integrated AC Power module
• in the wall mount rack (optional).

The integrated end-of-discharge detection protects the accumulator from total discharge. The end of charging is detected through the end-of-discharge voltage.

Charging the AkuPak at temperatures other than at the given operating temperatures can damage the accumulator.

A completely empty accumulator must be charged for at least 2 hours. Owing to the type of the accumulator, a very small charging time can lead to errors in interpreting charging by the device. The charging display can show a full accumulator by mistake. Safe operation of the device is also not guaranteed.

Shall the AkuPak not be charged or out of order, the DefiMonitor XD can also be used by means of the integrated mains power supply. The AkuPaks is automatically charged during the use of DefiMonitor XD. The charging time will be prolonged.

In case the device discovers an elevated temperature, it will interrupt the charging process until a normal temperature within a pre-defined value will be measured. This will avoid damaging the AkuPak during charging process.
