So-called Korotkoff sounds are produced by the expansion of the arterial wall with each heartbeat. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were determined by device algorithm interpretation based on mean arterial pressure and magnitude of Korotkoff sound change. For correct non-invasive measurements, it is important to use the correct cuff size, as too small a cuff can result in false high pressure readings and too large a cuff can result in false low pressure readings.
