Replacing a Battery If the patient monitor is running on battery power, ensure that the patient monitor is turned off before changing the battery. To replace the battery, follow these steps: 1. Open the battery cover. 2. Open the latch that secures the battery to be replaced and remove the battery. 3. Insert the battery into the slot with the contacts facing in. 4. Close the battery cover.
Description
Condition the battery Batteries must be conditioned before first use. The battery conditioning cycle is a continuous charge of the battery, followed by a continuous discharge and recharge of the battery. Batteries must be conditioned regularly to maintain their useful life.
To charge the battery, proceed as follows: 1. Disconnect the monitor from the patient and stop any observation or measurement. 2. Insert the battery to be conditioned into the battery compartment of the monitor. 3. Connect the AC / DC adapter to the monitor and let the battery charge continuously for 10 hours. 4. Disconnect the AC / DC power adapter and leave the monitor powered on by the battery until it turns off. 5. Reconnect the monitor to AC / DC power and let the battery charge continuously for 10 hours.
Check the battery A battery performance test should be performed every two years before repairing the monitor or if the battery is suspected to be the cause of the problem. Rechargeable batteries can deteriorate over time. To check battery performance please follow the instructions below: 1. Disconnect the monitor from the patient and stop any observation or measurement. 2. Connect the AC / DC power supply to the monitor and let the battery charge continuously for 10 hours. 3. Disconnect the AC / DC power adapter and leave the monitor powered on by the battery until it turns off. 4. Battery life directly reflects its performance. If the battery life is significantly shorter than specified, replace the battery or contact support.
Notes 1. If the battery is fully charged and runs for too short a period of time, it may be damaged or malfunction. The operating time depends on the configuration and operation. For example, more frequent NIBP measurements also reduce operating times. 2. The battery should be replaced if it shows any visible signs of damage or if it no longer charges. Remove the old batteries from the monitor and recycle them.
