Mindray T5 T6 T8 Patient Monitor Sidestream Co2 Module
CO2 monitoring is a continuous, non-invasive technique that determines the concentration of CO2 in a patient's airways by measuring the absorption of specific wavelengths of infrared (IR) light. CO2 has its own absorption properties and the amount of light that passes through the gas probe depends on the measured CO2 concentration. When certain wavelengths of infrared light pass through a breathing gas sample, some of the infrared light is absorbed by CO2 molecules. A photodetector measures the amount of infrared light transmitted through the breathing gas sample. The CO2 concentration is calculated from the measured amount of IR light. There are two ways to measure CO2 in a patient's airway: 1. Common measurements use a CO2 sensor connected to an airway adapter that connects directly to the patient's respiratory system. 2. Lateral Flow/Microflow Measurements Sample the patient's exhaled gas with a constant sample flow from the patient's airway and analyze it with a CO2 sensor built into the CO2 module. The measure provides: 1. CO2 waveform 2. CO2 value at the end of expiration (EtCO2): CO2 value measured at the end of expiration. 3. Fraction of CO2 inhaled (FiCO2): the smallest CO2 value measured during inhalation. 4. Airway Respiration Rate (awRR): The number of breaths per minute, calculated from the CO2 waveform
Identifying CO2 Modules From left to right are sidestream CO2 module, microstream CO2 module and mainstream CO2.
Using a Sidestream CO2 Module
1.Connect the water collector to the module, and then connect the CO2 assembly as shown in the picture below. 2. By default, the sidestream CO2 module is in measurement mode. After inserting the CO2 module, the [CO2 Startup] message will appear on the screen. 3. After the startup is complete, the CO2 module needs time to warm up to reach the operating temperature. The message [CO2 Sensor Warmup] is displayed. Measurement accuracy may be affected if CO2 measurements are performed during warm-up. 4. After the warm-up is complete, you can take a CO2 measurement.
