What is Stevia Leaf Extract?
Stevia rebaudiana extract is extracted from the leaves of Stevia
rebaudiana, a plant of the Asteraceae family. The main active
ingredient is stevioside, which is used as a sweetener and has the
effects of lowering blood sugar, lowering blood pressure, promoting
metabolism, and treating excessive stomach acid. Stevia rebaudiana
was named Steviarebaudiana by botanist Bertoni in 1905 and has been
used since then.
