Lead-Free Congruent LiNbO3 (LNC) Single Crystals With Large ME Effects
Recently, we have shown the possibility to produce large ME effects in composites containing lead-free congruent LiNbO3 (LNC) single crystals. Furthermore, some new promising techniques have been developed to directly engineer two ferroelectric domains with antiparallel spontaneous polarization vectors in a single crystal plate (bidomain). In previous studies, we proposed the use of square or long bar metglas/PE bi-layered composites with Y128-cut LNC single-crystal “head-to-head” (H–H) and “tail-to-tail” (T–T) bidomains in sensitive magnetic field sensors. The anisotropy of single-crystalline LNC can be used to achieve a high direction-dependent sensitivity to magnetic fields at low frequencies. Choosing a crystal with an appropriate cut is a very important step in the development of the ME sensors.
