The TwinSAFE terminal module EL1918 is a digital input terminal
module, suitable for 24 V DC sensors with passive contacts. The
EtherCAT terminal module has 8 safety inputs, and the signals can
be transmitted to the TwinSAFE safety logic module via FSoE.
EL1918 is equipped with safety parameters that can be adjusted
according to specific safety requirements. For instance, the test
pulses for all 8 channels can be set differently to enable the
connection of various types of sensors as much as possible.
The safety parameters are not directly stored on the components,
but are transmitted to the input terminal module through the
TwinSAFE safety logic module when the safety application is
started. This simplifies the maintenance procedures, as in this
case, the components can simply be replaced. When the safety
application restarts, the safety-related parameters will be
transmitted to the new components.
Another highlight of EL1918 is that it integrates the functions of
the EL6910 TwinSAFE logic terminal module. EL1918 can also be used
as a safety controller at any time. By default, EL1918 is a simple
input terminal module, and its input signals are transmitted to the
TwinSAFE safety logic module through FSoE. It can be directly used
as a safety controller to directly process the input signals in the
terminal module, thereby only forwarding the accumulated
information to the TwinSAFE logic. It can also implement a complete
safety application on EL1918. Functionally, it is similar to
EL6910. The only difference is that the number of safety
connections is limited to 128. Additionally, it has all the
advantages of the new generation of safety controllers (refer to
EL6910 customization, incremental download, analog value
processing, etc.).
