When you first receive your COR-TEN planter, it’ll have the look of raw metal and will begin to patina into bronze once placed outside. By request, we can speed up the patina process by pre-treating your planter before shipment, but it will need to go outside once you receive it to complete the oxidation process. Before purchasing planters made from COR-TEN weathering steel, be aware that they will most likely bleed onto the supporting surface after heavy rain or watering. The structure still must be designed so that rainwater does not drain from the metal onto surfaces where staining would be visible.
