IEC 62196 Dual station Label Marking Abrasion Test Apparatus Complied Standards & Clauses
It is utilized to assess the endurance of the marking. The examination is conducted by wiping the marking for 15 seconds with a cotton cloth moistened with water, followed by another 15 seconds with a cotton cloth soaked in 95% n-hexane (Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number, CAS RN, 110-54-3). After testing with water, the marked surface shall be dried. Rubbing should begin immediately after soaking the cotton piece, applying a pressure force of (5 ± 1) N at an approximate rate of one cycle per second (one cycle consisting of a forward and backward stroke along the marking’s length). For markings exceeding 20 mm in length, rubbing may be restricted to a section of the marking over a path of at least 20 mm. The pressure force is exerted using a test piston wrapped with cotton, which consists of cotton wool enclosed by a layer of medical cotton gauze. The test piston must conform to the dimensions in Figure 8 and should be composed of an elastic material resistant to the test liquids, possessing a Shore-A hardness of 47 ± 5 (such as synthetic rubber).
