Helium Leak Detection for Power Plant Steam Systems (Using Wayeal
SFJ-231)
Sealing integrity in power plant steam systems (e.g., turbines,
steam pipelines, valves, and heat exchangers) directly impacts unit
efficiency and operational safety. Even minor leaks can cause steam
loss, reduced thermal efficiency, corrosion, or unplanned
shutdowns. The Wayeal SFJ-231 helium mass spectrometer leak
detector delivers precise, reliable detection for these critical
applications.
Leak Detection Method (Vacuum Mode)
1. System Preparation
- Isolate the steam system and evacuate it to ≤1500 Pa (maximum
allowable detection pressure).
- Connect the SFJ-231’s DN25KF leak detection port to the test point.
2. Helium Spraying
- Use a helium spray gun (compatible with H2/He3/He4) to slowly spray
potential leak points (welds, flanges, etc.).
- The dual ion sources (iridium-coated yttrium oxide) auto-switch for
real-time monitoring.
3. Leak Identification
- Monitor real-time graphs/bar charts on the 7-inch color LCD
touchscreen:
- Audible/visual alarms trigger if leak rate exceeds 5.0×10-6 Pa·m³/s (sniffer mode threshold).
- Vacuum mode detects ultra-fine leaks (as low as 5.0×10⁻13 Pa·m³/s).
4. Data Recording
- Export results via RS232/485 or USB to MES systems for compliance
reporting.
