tempered glass, typically made of low-iron glass for enhanced
clarity, which are bonded together with SentryGlas® Plus
interlayer. This innovative ionoplast polymer interlayer, developed
by Kuraray, offers exceptional transparency and performance. Compared to conventional laminated tempered glass, SGP laminated
glass offers significantly greater strength and rigidity,
delivering superior structural integrity and support. This enhanced
performance allows architects and designers to incorporate larger
glass panels and more minimalist support systems, enabling sleek
and open design concepts. Even when broken, SGP laminated glass retains its structural
integrity and load-bearing capacity, making it especially suitable
for applications where safety and performance under extreme
conditions are critical—such as in hurricane-prone regions or
overhead glazing installations. Laminated glass outperforms tempered glass as a safety glazing
solution. Even when broken, the glass fragments remain adhered to
the interlayer, effectively reducing the risk of injuries from
falling or sharp pieces.
By combining different types of glass and interlayer films,
laminated glass can be engineered with enhanced properties such as
UV protection, energy efficiency, sound insulation, burglary
resistance, hurricane and earthquake resilience, as well as
decorative effects.
