barrier, is a flexible guard railing system used to provide a good,
safe and guarded environment on where there maybe open areas along
a road. This barrier system composed of hot dipped galvanized steel
wire strands, steel posts and terminals all consisting of excellent
rust resisting and corrosion resisting property.
This type of wire rope safety barrier is a kind of highway fence
that helps to keep vehicles within the limits of the road. The wire
cable barrier is made with three,four, five or six high tensile
steel wire ropes, which are firmly mounted on the steel post at the
desired spacing to form a flexible guard barrier. The more number
of the wire cables, the more strength the barrier offers. Compared
to other steel highway guardrail, this one is relatively cheaper
and easy to install with a high effectiveness of redirection of
errant vehicles when it is installed in a right way. Cable barrier is the typical flexible barrier type, it is also
known as a wire rope barrier, steel wire rope guardrail, steel
cable barrier, wire rope guard rail, flexible cable barrier or
flexible guardrail. It consists of: terminal post structure,
intermediate post structure, middle post, bracket, steel wire rope
and cable anchorage device. As per China National Standard, cable
barrier can be designed as A, B, C three grades based on different
protect levels. Generally, Grade A is equipped with 5 lines cable,
Grade B is equipped with 4 lines cable, Grade C is equipped with 3
lines cable. Max post intervals is 7 meters when in earth
foundation, while the max posts intervals is 4 meter when in
concrete foundation. If one section length is more than 300 or 500
meters, more intermediate post structure should be added. The base metal material used for the end uprights, middle end
uprights, middle uprights, brackets,wedges and clips is ordinary
carbon structural steel. The standard of their mechanical
properties and chemical compositions is not inferior to the
requirements for Q235 steel set forth by the standard “GB/T700".For the appearance and labeling of a steel wire rope, please refer
to Pictured above, The steel wire ropes are made up of wire rods that are in
compliance with “GB/T 25833” or other requirements. The breaking
load of the φ18 3X7 steel wire ropes is not less than 170kN, and
the tensile strength of the steel wire is not less than 1570MPa.

six layer wire cables are used for reinforced guard railings.
2. Space distance: The barrier post often installed with spacing
from 6.3 to 32.6 ft. The longer spacing normally means the higher
deflection distance.
3. Tensioning: Cables are fixed on the post and tightened to
specific tension in accordance with the local temperature and
environment. After tension, the reflection will be reduces and the
ability to preventing vehicles from skidding off the road can be
enhanced. Normally the tensions values range approximately from
2,000lb to 9,000lb.Rope guardrail is the main representative form of flexible
guardrail. It is a structure composed of several ropes that exert
initial tension and are fixed on the column. It mainly relies on
the tensile stress of the rope to resist the collision ofvehicles
and absorb the collision ability.
