Detailed Product Description

TECW-1 Tritium electrolytic concentration device

The TECW series of electrolytic tritium enrichment instruments for water samples is a laboratory-grade device developed by Shuoboda Instruments, featuring its own intellectual property. It enables electrolytic enrichment of tritium in water samples, achieving an enrichment factor of over 10 times. The TECW series meets the requirements for tritium enrichment specified in the "Analytical Method for Tritium in Water" standard (HJ 1126-2020). This series includes two models: the single-channel TECW-1 and the dual-channel TECW-2.

Working principle

The positive and negative catalytic electrodes for the electrochemical reaction are attached to both sides of the cation exchange membrane as porous thin layers, forming an integrated unit with the membrane. In the reaction, water (pure water) undergoes electrolysis at the catalytic anode: . Simultaneously, oxygen ions release electrons at the anode, producing oxygen gas.  Hydrogen ions, under the influence of the electric field, migrate through the cation exchange membrane in the form of hydrated ions, reaching the catalytic cathode, where they absorb electrons and release hydrogen gas. For tritiated water (HTO), the decomposition rate of H2O is faster than that of HTO. Utilizing this characteristic, tritium will gradually concentrate in the water during the electrolysis process.

Main Features:

•  Utilizes a control circuit based on liquid level, pressure, and temperature signals to achieve automated control of the entire electrolysis process;

•  Maintains the electrolysis temperature consistently around 5-10°C, preventing ice blockage due to water vapor condensation;

•  Employs a SPE membrane electrolysis cell for concentration under constant temperature conditions, ensuring high system stability with electrolysis time deviation <2%;

•  Uses a unique laser-based liquid level sensor to precisely control the residual amount after each electrolysis cycle;

•  Electrolysis cell has a lifespan of over 6000 hours;

•  The generated H2 and O2 gases are separated by a semi-permeable membrane, preventing their mixture and potential explosion;

•  Features multiple safety redundancy designs, including a pressure sensor, optional hydrogen leak sensor, and optional outdoor exhaust vent anti-icing device (for cold climates), further enhancing safety.
