Product Overview
The QR-SEL-A Methylene Blue Absorption Tester is designed to determine the methylene blue absorption and effective bentonite
content in bentonite used for molding sand. By using ultrasonic dispersion and mechanical stirring, the instrument ensures accurate, fast, and reproducible results,
helping to prevent surface defects on castings caused by low-quality bentonite.
This instrument features microcomputer-controlled ultrasonic dispersion and titration, allowing simultaneous control of two burettes for precise
methylene blue titration. The sample is dispersed at room
temperature, ensuring full contact between bentonite and methylene
blue for reliable measurement.
Working Principle
Bentonite Adsorption: Bentonite has strong adsorption capacity for methylene blue,
which varies depending on type, origin, and dispersion degree.
Complete dispersion is required to measure maximum absorption.
Ultrasonic Dispersion: High-frequency ultrasonic waves create cavitation in the liquid.
The rapid collapse of cavitation bubbles generates shock waves that
efficiently disperse bentonite particles and remove contaminants.
Mechanical Titration: Simultaneous mechanical stirring ensures full contact between
methylene blue and bentonite. The titration continues until free
methylene blue appears in the suspension, indicating saturation and
allowing calculation of blue absorption.
